What a week!
Between time constraints and a general fear of my increased strength workouts, I did a lot of Free Run this week. When I finally got to my legs/back workout, I found the Lunges were surprisingly easy. They were still very difficult, and left my legs trembling, but there was never any doubt that I would make it.
A wiser (and coincidentally older) coworker who's also using Wii Fit contended that "at our age, it just takes a little longer to recuperate" from workouts. With this sage advice in mind, I decided to change schedules once again. I'm going to alternate between legs/back and arms/abs strength workouts, with an aerobic run day between each.
My next arms/abs workout went well: I finished all 10 Push-Ups and Side Planks. I followed my previous breathing regimen, although it wasn't nearly so necessary as before. My last push-up was really weak, but I managed. It looks like 5 workouts is all I need to increase my performance. (I've also been craving salt, so I got some potato chips and indulged. I doubt it helped my workouts, but it sure made me feel better.)
Friends dropped by for a visit on Friday. They happen to be marathon runners. They agreed that I need to get running shoes, then explained abut the Galloway run/walk method. I had stopped doing my running outside, because I just couldn't seem to run much: I wound up walking most of the way. They recommended running 1 minute, then walking 1 minute.
I don't have a 1-minute repeating timer, so I used 60 strides instead. (I decided a "stride" is each time a particular foot comes down.) I figure there's not much difference in time between walking and running strides, so I got about a minute each. I used binary counting on my right hand to keep track of each set of 10 strides, and I binary counted the number of times I ran on my left hand.
I was surprised to keep up the run/walk for more than 30 minutes straight! I covered a lot more distance than usual, I felt a lot more exercised, and my estimates were just about right: I completed 16 walk/runs in 36 minutes.
This morning's legs/back workout was still hard, but no big deal. I've been below my Wii Fit age for three weeks running (31 today)! Although I gained two pounds over the weekend (probably the potato chips), I fully expect to lose them again over the next two days. I can't wait to try run/walking again tomorrow!

A variety of obligations and injuries have kept me from doing much exercise lately. It's been almost a week. Yesterday I finally got out and ran my 5K again. Happily, I haven't lost much of my endurance, if any. Since Omi is here for two weeks, I
